Lindsay Lohan Plans to Extend Rehab Stay

lindsay.jpg

It has been reported that Lindsay Lohan plans to extend her rehab stay even longer.

Lindsay’s mother spoke to the press today about her daughter’s plans.

“She’s going to be doing extended care,” Dina Lohan said in Tuesday’s editions of the Daily News. “It was her choice.”

The “Mean Girls” actress, who turns 21 on July 2, checked into rehab in Malibu, Calif., after she crashed her Mercedes Benz into a curb and was photographed slumped in the passenger seat of a friend’s car.

It was her second rehab stint this year. Lohan said in January she had checked into a rehabilitation center for substance abuse treatment.

Good for her.  I sincerely hope she is getting the help she needs to live a sober life!

Nicole Richie’s Pregnancy and Pill Scandal

starcover1.jpg

Nicole Richie continues to be profiled in the tabloids not for her weight, but for her supposed “baby bump”, and recently exposed pill addiction. Star Magazine reports that Nicole has popped somewhere around 37,000 pills in her lifetime.

Nicole reportedly admits her addiction to Vicodin (a narcotic painkiller), Soma (a muscle relaxant), and Norco (a variant of Vicodin), among other things. The Star article claims that Nicole stumbled into rehab last month at a shocking 83 pounds and could barely walk or talk.

“She was in tears and explained she was pregnant and needed help because her boyfriend threatened to leave her if she didn’t do something about her addiction”.

As for the pregnancy, Nicole has not publicly confirmed nor denied it. I think she’s enjoying the publicity, since her weight is no longer getting her on the cover of tabloids. If this is the case, she is certainly hypocritical to boot, since her book made fun of one of her friends who used to pretend to be pregnant for tabloid publicity.

Lindsay Lohan Cancels 21st Birthday Party

Maybe - just maybe - Lindsay Lohan actually wants to get better after all?

Word has hit the news wire that Lindsay Lohan has canceled her 21st birthday bash, which was to be held at PURE nightclub in Los Angeles. Lindsay has decided to work on her recovery instead of having a blowout party which would probably lead to her falling off the wagon.

PURE released the statement yesterday about the cancellation:

“We support Lindsay and wish her the best as she is taking care of personal matters at this time. Due to the unique circumstances, as of this afternoon, Lindsay’s birthday party at Pure Nightclub has been canceled. We think the world of her and look forward to working with her in the future.”

I especially like that last sentence. Do they think a recovering alcoholic is supposed to go to a nightclub? Um, no.

Here are some pictures of Lindsay working out a few days ago. Apparently she has some fans that wouldn’t leave her alone during her workout:

Lindsay Lohan’s Dad Claims She is Hooked on Oxycontin

001991476.jpg

I’m really starting to feel sorry for Lindsay Lohan. I mean, who can blame her for being on all sorts of chemicals when her family repeatedly embarrasses her? We already know about her hardcore partying mother. Now her father has decided to join in the fray and talk to the press about Lindsay’s “problems”.

He confessed earlier to E Online that Lindsay is hooked on OxyContin, a very strong prescription painkiller. She is reportedly being treated for those and alcohol abuse right now in rehab.

Michael Lohan thinks that Lindsay is finally receiving the help she needs:

“I spoke to the people treating Lindsay, because I wanted to make sure she was getting the right care. And I’m satisfied they are doing the right thing for her, helping her detox from the painkillers and things. That’s a very important step.”

Might I suggest a longer stay in rehab this time? Apparently the last time wasn’t near long enough to get any help.
